Study in Canada
WHAT IS A STUDY PERMIT
A Canada study visa is officially called a study permit.
It allows international students to study at approved institutions in Canada.
You must be accepted by a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) before applying.

- Have a letter of acceptance from a DLI
- Show proof of sufficient funds for:
- Tuition fees
- Living expenses
- Return travel
- Have no criminal record (police certificate may be required)
- Be in good health (medical exam if required)
- Prove that you will leave Canada after your studies
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
When applying, you generally need:
- Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from a DLI
- Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) (mandatory in most cases)
- Valid passport
- Proof of funds

Incomplete applications may lead to delays or refusal.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The process is primarily online:
- Get admission from a DLI

- Wait for application processing
Most applicants between ages 14–79 must provide biometrics (fingerprints & photo).
PROOF OF FUNDS (IMPORTANT)
Applicants must demonstrate they can financially support themselves during their stay in Canada, including tuition and living costs.
Recent updates have increased financial requirements, making proper documentation more important than before.
WHILE STUDYING IN CANADA
Students must:
- Remain enrolled at their DLI
- Make progress in their course
- Follow all conditions on their study permit
AFTER STUDY (WORK OPTION)
Graduates may be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), depending on:
- Program eligibility
- Institution eligibility
- Application timing
This allows students to gain work experience in Canada after completing studies.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Study permits are assessed case by case
- Meeting requirements does not guarantee approval
- Accuracy and completeness of application is critical
Start right, everything else becomes easier.
Canada has a structured process, the key is following it correctly from the beginning.
